  1. remove driver for the onboard sound Remove the line

      dtparam=audio=on
     

  from /boot/config.txt if it exists.

  2. add this line

       dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus
     

  to /boot/config.txt

  3. reboot

  4. check sound cards

      arecord -l
